Kindergarten Orientation

Also known as "Popsicle Orientation" (you'll see why in one of the photos below), tonight was our opportunity to meet Tyler's teacher, Miss Skidis, his classmates, and the other parents. He seemed to like one of the boys in his class, Mikey, right away. And their lockers are right next to each other (bonus!). Miss Skidis seems super nice and a lot of fun.

When we arrived at the school tonight, we went straight to the library for the principal's greeting, then were told that the class lists had been posted today (earlier than we thought--they were originally going to be posted next week), so we went down the hall to the kindergarten classrooms. There are three of them, and Tyler arrived at the first one a full 10 seconds ahead of us. He couldn't wait to find out who is teacher was going to be! He walked up to Ms. Ross first and, to our surprise, said, "Hi. I'm Tyler Lunning. Are you my teacher?" She smiled at him, politely said no, and off he went to Classroom #2, where he greeted that teacher, Miss Skidis, the same way. She smiled and said, "Yes, Tyler! You're in my class!" The smile on his face was so big, you'd have thought he just won the lottery. He walked right into the classroom and began walking around, familiarizing himself with the room. And all this time, not once did he look to make sure that we were still there with him--guess there's no need to worry about how he'll adjust to his new environment! :)

Tyler and Miss Skidis--he couldn't wait to show her the Lego airplane that he built--in about 2 minutes. :)
After checking out his locker, we headed outside to the playground, where Ms. Newton, the principal, was giving out popsicles to all of the kids.

A couple of views of Tyler's classroom
One of the teachers down the hall has filled her classroom with M&M's decor. I have to meet her! And make sure that Tyler is in HER class in a few years. :)

Connor wants to do everything that his big brother does.
